Tucson Aeroservice Center is very pleased to announce the addition of Mr. Timothy McDaid to its sales staff. Tim brings a lifetime of passion for aircraft and aircraft engines as well as many years of technical and business experience to the sales department.
A licensed pilot, Tim is an enthusiastic addition to the aviation community and looks forward to serving your aviation needs whether it is pre-purchase consulting, sales advice, FAA paperwork, or basic value information. Tim’s computer ability as it relates to aircraft evaluation and comparisons is second to none and he is well versed in many different types of aviation related software.
Tim has spent the last 28 years, as his time in his former life would permit, logging hours with his associate, Steve, a long time aviation professional based in Tucson since 1982, in everything from C-172’s to King Airs, Beech Barons, Bonanzas, and 300 and 400 series Cessnas, just to name a few. He has piloted these aircraft in all kinds of weather all across the country. Through the generosity of his loyal and loving wife, he has also piloted two North American Top Gun AT‑6s in a half-day Air Combat Course ("I smoked the other guy 4 times out of 4, and was going for ace status when we ran out of time.") and an aerobatic joyride. In addition to his unique flying experiences, Tim has assisted Steve in the marketing and operation of the Oklahoma Aircraft Dealers Association (OADA)* Annual Aircraft Auction, the world's largest aircraft dealer auction. While the internet has forced the OADA to scale back its operations Tim was a great asset to Steve's operation.
In recent years, Tim has discovered and joined the Aircraft Engine Historical Society (AEHS) and through that, the Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust Allison Branch, both feeding his special love for big old piston aircraft engines. He has contributed to the major AEHS initiative to catalog and create an online index of the National Archives' huge, stunning collection of aircraft-related documents from the '20s through the '40s and is currently researching an article on the Curtiss V‑1570 Conqueror V‑12 engine for the quarterly AEHS journal. A long-time dream is to restore a Pratt & Whitney R‑2800 to running condition, preferably an older version that his grandfather McDaid might have helped build at Ford Motor Company's Dearborn Engine Plant during WWII.
At the TAC Sales Department, Tim's focus will be on piston aircraft, including TAC's exciting new Remos G3 Light Sport Aircraft franchise. So, come visit in person, give Tim a call, or send an email to discuss your aircraft related needs or just to shoot the breeze about planes and engines.
